Pennsylvania Game Commission has fenced off the former route of the trail north of Firetower Road through the 'maze' of management roads. Follow detour signs, and new blazes. Length basically unchanged. (6/23)
US 6 crossing is now a slight left-hand jog, rerouted around washed-out stream crossing. (12/17)
Between Hills Creek SP and US 6 - Parts closed Oct 1-Jan 31 for hunting. (4/09; 9/23) Relocation on and north of Orebed Rd to much drier portion of active cattle pasture. Northbound, at km 1.20 in 12th edition Guide, keep going on Orebed Rd about 400 m further to a stile, cross over the fence, aim for the blazed power pole and keep going on that vector to the edge of woods (still pasture), follow blazes down to guidebook km 1.74 "Gate. Please leave it CLOSED." Southbound, from the gate (km 22.47) look to right, by an old apple tree to see blazes, follow up through wooded pasture to sign "Next Blaze 300 m," edge left and keep going until you see the stile, cross over and left downhill along the road. Distance 0.42 km longer between Hills Creek State Park and US 6. (7/17)
Gas drilling and pipeline work could be under way on private land in this section. At this time we think any interruptions in the route will be short term in nature and able to be detoured using the nearest road. Please download the current maps.
